Our PREPARATION programmes are bespoke to each child. For example: A student applying for Year 12 entry may require advanced coaching in note taking, debating and other such study skills.
We use tutors in China and the UK to deliver our programmes because both offer a different style of teaching that is crucial to the student’s progress over a short period of time.
PREPARE – Pre-Tests
Many schools now require applicants to sit a pre-test before they register. The pre-tests are normally online and test your child’s verbal, non-verbal and numerical reasoning skills. Many children from schools outside the UK have never sat these types of tests before. WBS provides our clients’ children with a pre-test practice session, after which we evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and devise a study plan to ensure they are fully prepared and familiar with the type of questions they will be faced with in the future.
PREPARE – Tutoring
Whether we are preparing your child for their assessment day, their interview or their subject specific entrance exams, we will work closely with you to create a schedule that involves both face to face and online tutoring (if applicable). We work only with the best, qualified, tutors, including Cambridge and Oxford Graduates who have been through exactly what your child is about to, consequently our students are not faced with any hidden surprises on the day.
PREPARE – Interviews
A key element of a child’s application is their interview. All British boarding schools are looking for passion, drive, ambition and potential in each child they meet. They tend to only have about 15 minutes to find that in a child during an interview. As a WBS School Placement student your child will naturally prepare for their interview with us whilst they create their WBS Student Profile. We also provide interview sessions before the big day.
PREPARE - Over Preparing
It is not healthy to over prepare a child. The amount of preparation we recommend will depend heavily on a child's learning abilities. Arming them with what they need to feel confident on assessment day, and doing so in such a way that they feel comfortable at that level is what is important. One of our favourite sayings at WBS is 'We don't fit round pegs in to square holes', it doesn't benefit anyone, especially your child.
